Fred King was a scientist and an old friend and colleague of Julie Parrish. He initially helps only by supplying intelligence to Julie and her fellow Resistance members (such as John's ceremony at the Los Angeles Medical Center, complete with building plans) but with Julie's insistence, agrees to take larger risks and smuggles medical supplies and weapons to the Resistance. He served as Julie's getaway driver when the operation to expose John's true nature on national television succeeded ,though reluctant previously before the operation. He made it to the gate, but Daniel Bernstein shot him through the windscreen and he was killed instantly, causing the van to crash and allow Julie to be captured by Visitor forces.
